We all made it out of bed and to the front of the hotel at 5:30 a.m. The bus arrived at 5:45 and took us to the airport. We got there two hours before left and got in line. We made it almost through when one of the students realized that they left their I pod in the hotel room. Luckily, the Abels weren't leaving until later on another flight, so they called Gigi at the hotel and he would try to get it for them.
We got through our two hour flight to Madrid, Spain without incident. We took most of the time getting through security. I managed to get to my flight on the last boarding call. The long plane flight from Madrid to Chicago showed two full movies. We saw “The Prince and I” and “Hildago”. We got to Chicago and went through the long line of customs and bag claiming.
Unfortunately, one of the students didn't get her bag.
While waiting for our flight to Grand Rapids, the flight got delayed 15 minutes. 15 minutes turned into 45 minutes, but we managed to get up in the air.
We arrived at the airport and were met by family and friends. The Abels were even there and waited for us. Their flight had been delayed too. Everyone went home tired but filled with stories to share.
